Latvia: On the purchase prices of round timber in the 2nd half of 2007

The information of the Central Statistical Bureau on the purchase prices of significant export commodity – round timber, show that, compared to the same period of 2006, in the 2nd half of 2007 the purchase prices of pine and spruce sawlogs grew by 32% in each segment, but prices of deciduous sawlogs – on average by 44-62%.

The growth of birch veneer log purchase prices constituted 45%, prices of matchlogs increased by 47%, and of packing case timber – by 48%.

Compared to the 1^st half of 2007, in the second half of 2007 the increase of purchase prices was not high. The purchase prices of pine sawlogs rose by 4%, of spruce sawlogs – by 2%, but in the market of deciduous sawlogs the price growth varied between 3% and 20%. The purchase prices of birch veneer logs have increased by 12%, of matchlogs – by 14%, but the purchase prices of packing timber have retain the previous level.
