Eesti Energia again emerges as most highly regarded employer in Estonia

The state-owned energy group Eesti Energia topped the list of Estonia's most highly regarded employers for the fifth year running according to the annual employer reputation survey of Kantar Emor, cites LETA/BNS.

The top five includes also shipper Tallink, Skype, the state forest management center RMK, and Viking Line. Skype that last year narrowly missed the top five replaced the state-owned port company Tallinna Sadam.

"As employers, large state-owned companies are more attractive, people value their stability and the sense of security they offer. Participants in the survey assume that they have sufficient money to pay good wages and carry out exciting projects. In addition to Eesti Energia and RMK, jobs with Estonian Railways, Tallinna Vesi and Omniva are increasingly more attractive," Lele Aak, research expert at Kantar Emor, said.

"Tourism businesses remain attractive as well. Work in them appears to be full of variety and their attraction is increased by bonuses offered to own employees," she added.

Compared with last year, Coop Estonia has undergone the biggest positive change, rising 11 places. A second major riser was Transferwise that offers international career opportunities, Aak said.

Circle K suffered the heaviest fall. Furthermore, all charted fuel sellers placed in the bottom half of the rankings as employers. "People regard attendant's job in a filling station chain as less attractive than work in large service enterprises such as Telia or Swedbank, but at the same time work in a fuel seller is more attractive than in a grocery chain," Aak observed.

Kantar Emor's employer reputation survey took place for the 13th time. Fifty most highly regarded employers were ranked by 1,597 wage earners across Estonia in April and May 2018.
