"ss.com", "weather conditions", "scratch and win" are most searched words on Google by Latvians in 2017

The most searched words on Google in Latvia this year were "ss.com" (Latvian classified ads portal), "laikapstakli" (weather conditions), and "skrape un laime" (scratch and win), writes LETA, according to Google’s Year in Search data.

Among other most popular search words there were also "Iphone 8", "Andelemandele" (fashion flea market), "Fidget spinner", Catalonia, "gripas simptomi" (flu symptoms), "Despacito" and "Nokia 3310".

 

The top events searched on Google in Latvia were "X faktors" (singers talent contest), Eurovision and the Riga City Festival, election results and "Positivus" music festival. Among the top searched sports events, people were most interested in "EuroBasket", the World Ice-Hockey Championship, Wimbledon, Latvian tennis player Alona Ostapenko and Latvian boxer Mairis Briedis.

 

Searching for movies, Latvians had most often hit "Fast and Furious 8", "Fifty Shades Darker" and "La La Land" on Google.
