Latvia shows one of the fastest economic growths in EU in Q3
According to seasonally adjusted data, in July-September 2017, Latvia’s GDP
expanded by 6.2% year-on-year. The strongest growth was recorded in Romania
(+8.6%), while Malta reported a 7.7% growth, Poland had 5.2%.
Lithuania showed 3.4% growth, and Estonian reported a 4.2% growth.
All the 26 EU member states reporting their data increased their GDP in
annual terms in the third quarter of this year.
Compared to the second quarter of 2017, Latvia’s GDP grew by 1.5% in the
third quarter of 2017. Only Romania (+2.6%) and Malta (+1.9%) demonstrated a
steeper growth. Estonia’s economy increased by 0.3%, and Lithuania’s GDP rise
by 0.1%.
Compared to the third quarter of 2016, the GDP of the 26 EU member states
and the euro area increased by 2.6%, while GDP in the third quarter compared to
the second quarter rose 0.6% both in the EU and the eurozone.
Data on Ireland and Luxembourg have not been made available. Statistics on
the Netherlands are based on workday-adjusted data.
