BC, Riga, 15.11.2017.Print version
The number of employees working within the state administration in Latvia will be reduced by two% per year until 2020, writes LETA, according to the state administration reform plan approved by the government yesterday.

According to the plan, there will be a 2% reduction in the number of persons working within the state administration in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

The State Chancellery informs that the aim of the reform plan is to reduce the number of persons working within the state administration by 6% by 2020.

The State Chancellery points out that this is necessary to achieve the average figure of public employment and not exceed it.

However, this reduction in employees will not impact the National Armed Forces, national security institutions, the Corruption Prevention Bureau as well as the diplomatic service.

Thus, the total number of employee reductions will be at around 50,000, according to the reform plan.
