Nearly one-third or 32% of job seekers in Latvia said they always studied the activities of a potential employer in social networking sites when applying for a vacancy with the company, informs LETA, cording to a poll carried out by CV Market job portal.

The respondents were asked whether they looked at the accounts of a potential employer in social networking sites before applying for a vacancy, and 32% said they always checked out those accounts, 29% said they studied the social media accounts of a potential employer only in case of less known companies, 22% said they rarely did this and 17% said they were not interested in the activities of a potential employer in social networking sites.

A similar poll in Estonia showed that 45% of job seekers always took a look at the company's accounts in social networking sites when applying for a vacancy and 41% did so in case of less known companies. Only 8% said they rarely used social networking sites to study the potential employer and 6% claimed they never did that.

The poll also showed that women aged under 35 years prevail among respondents, who look at the social media account of a potential employer whenever applying for a vacancy or in case of a less known company. Among male respondents, men aged over 35 years are somewhat more likely to examine the social networking sites. At the same time, those, who never check out potential employers in social networking sites, also include men aged over 35 years and women from different age groups.

A total of 744 respondents aged 20-55 years participated in the online poll held by CV Market on September 7-22.
