Overall passenger traffic in Lithuania fell by 0.7% in H1

The overall passenger traffic in Lithuania declined by 0.7% in the first half of 2017 from a year ago to 195.732 million, reports LETA/BNS, according to estimates released by the country's statistics office on August 22nd.

Road passenger traffic edged down by 0.8% to 192.317 million, with the number of passengers carried by buses and coaches up by 0.4% to 148.564 million and that of passengers carried by trolleybuses down by 4.8% to 43.752 million.


Rail passenger traffic increased by 3.8% to 2.198 million. The number of passengers carried by inland waterways fell by 1.5% to 729,700 and the number of those carried by marine transport was down by 2% to 161,400 passengers. Lithuanian air carriers posted a 17.7% rise in passenger traffic to 326,100 passengers.
