Latvians need EUR 3,342 monthly to fulfill all dreams
The amount is by EUR 26 higher than the monthly income that would enable
one to fulfill all dreams in 2016, and it is highest amount since such a poll
has been conducted.
The lowest recorded sum needed to fulfill dreams was in 2000, when its was
three times lower. Since 2004 the sum kept growing every year to EUR 2,434 in
2008, and then gradually declined as the economic crisis set in to reach EUR
1,930 in 2012.
Latvian residents would need EUR 1,165 a month on average for normal life,
according to a survey.
In July residents were asked how much they would like to earn a month in
order to live a normal life. The poll showed that the desirable sum would be
EUR 1,165 a month, which is by EUR 51 less than a year ago. This is the first
time the sum has declined in the past six years.
So far the highest desirable sum was registered last year – EUR 1,216 a
month, followed by EUR 1,146 in 2008. The smallest desirable sum has been
registered in 2000, when people said it would be EUR 494 a month.
