21% Latvians choose holiday destination based on costs

As many as 21% of people in Latvian choose their holiday destination based on the costs involved, reports LETA, according to a survey carried out by Latvia Tours travel agency.

Another 15% of respondents said they chose their holiday destination for the local climate, and cultural tourist attractions was a major factor for 11%. Nearby waters were important for 11% and nearby mountains mattered to 10% of respondents while 6% took note of the geopolitical situation in the potential holiday destination.

 

Most of respondents travel with their spouses or partners (35%), or with their families (30%). One-fifth or 21% prefer travelling with their friends or acquaintances, and one-tenth or 10% choose to travel solo while 4% like to join package tours.


The online poll was carried out at the beginning of June among 211 residents of Latvia aged 18-70 years.

 

The turnover of Latvia Tours in the first five months of this year increased 23% year-on-year to EUR 8.6 million. The company closed 2016 with a profit of EUR 152,053 on a turnover of EUR 17.567 million.
