Lithuania posts one of EU's largest increases in Q1 new car sales

Lithuania's new car sales rose at one of the fastest rates in the EU in the first quarter of 2017 compared with a year ago, figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) showed on Wednesday, reports LETA/BNS.

New passenger car registrations in Lithuania jumped by 20% in January through March y-o-y to reach 5,524 units.


Estonia recorded an 8.1% growth to 5,869 units and Latvia posted a 4.6%  annual increase to 4,064.


In March y-o-y, new car sales rose by 25.6% to 2,053 in Lithuania and went up by 10.4% to 2,232 in Estonia, but fell by 6.8% to 1,442 in Latvia.


Across the European Union, car sales grew by 8.4% to 4.141 mln cars in the three months and by 11.2% to 1.892 mln in March alone.
