Latvian businesspeople still prefer paper notebooks over IT solution

Just 34% of Latvia’s small and medium-size businesses (SME) are using CRM software tools to organize their work, a survey by Miitech has found writes LETA.

Miitech representative Katrina Melkere told  that most of the surveyed entrepreneurs said they use mainly document folders, journals and Microsoft Excel to systematize their companies’ work. Conventional paper notebooks are still the most widely used organizer. The trend suggest that IT solutions have not won entrepreneurs’ trust even though they would allow them to do the job more easier and quicker, Melkere said.

The Miitech representative noted that the Internet-based CRM systems can be accessed from anywhere, provided that the user has a connection to the Web. When asked if they are planning to switch to IT solutions, only 8 percent of the respondents who did not use CRM said they would like to explore and use CRM software in the future.

Of the entrepreneurs already using CRM, 88% spoke appreciatively of their experience, grading it with five of four points on a five-point scale. CRM tools are mostly used for accounting, booking, warehouse registration and creation of client or business partner databases, Melkere said.

The survey was conducted at the end of last year, interviewing around 300 company representatives.
