Latvia reporting biggest drop in new commercial vehicle registration for January-February

Latvia reported the biggest decline in registration of new commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) for the first two months of this year, according to the latest report released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

During the first two months of 2017, registration of new commercial autos in Latvia dropped 11.8% y-o-y to 507 vehicles. Of the 30 European countries included in the ACEA report, Latvia reported the biggest drop in commercial vehicle registration.


Six countries registered a drop in commercial vehicle registration – Latvia, Ireland (-10.8%), Hungaru (-10.4%), Denmark (-8.7%), Poland (-2.1%) and the Czech Republic (-0.9%).


The other 24 European countries included in the ACEA report increased commercial vehicle registration against the first two months of this year.


The steepest rise in commercial vehicle registration was recorded in Greece (+47.7%), Finland (+22.9%), and Lithuania (+22.1%).


During the first two months of this year, 1,574 new commercial vehicles were registered in Lithuania and 963 new commercial autos were registered in Estonia, which was a 12.8 percent rise against the same period in 2016.


In all 30 countries included in the ACEA report new commercial vehicle registration picked up 5.5% y-o-y to 350,233 units.


In the European Union, new commercial vehicle registration rose 5.6% to 338,947 units.

The ACEA report includes data on new commercial vehicle registration in 30 European countries: EU member states, except Malta, as well as non-EU countries Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, which, along with the EU member states, are members of the European Economic Area.
