Latvian producer prices in industry increased by 0.4%
Over the month, producer price changes were mainly influenced by the price increase in manufacture of food products, distribution of electricity, distribution of gaseous fuels through mains, as well as manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment.

Compared to February 2016, in February 2017 the average level of producer prices in Latvian industry increased by 1.3%. The prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 1.1% and prices of exported products by 1.6%. The prices of products exported to euro area countries went up by 2.3% and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries by 1.2%.
The price increase in manufacture of food products, as well as waste collection, treatment and disposal activities, materials recovery had the strongest upward pressure on the price changes, whereas production of electricity had the greatest downward effect.

This year, information on the producer prices in industry is provided by more than 610 enterprises, which inform the CSB about approximately 2.6 thousand prices every month – 1.4 thousand of which are related to products and industrial services sold on the domestic market, and 1.2 thousand relating to prices on the export markets, with the respective information being then used for index calculations.
