Lithuania posts EU's biggest q-o-q construction growth

Print version Lithuania in the fourth quarter of 2016 registered the largest quarterly increase in construction output in the European Union, figures from the EU statistical office Eurostat showed on Friday.

Production in the construction sector in Lithuania grew by 5% in the last quarter of 2016 from a quarter ago, the highest rate among the countries whose data are available in the report.
Y-o-y, Lithuania's construction output rose by 4.2%, the third-largest increase after Sweden's 9.4% and the Netherlands' 8.3%.
Latvia's posted an 11.8% decline in y-o-y terms, but a 2.5% increase q-o-q.
Based on the available data, production in construction in the whole of the EU rose by 1.4% y-o-y and by 0.7% q-o-q. Data for 12 member states, including Estonia, are not available in the report.
