Industrial production in Lithuania grew by 1.1 % over the month

Statistics Lithuania informs that in December 2016 industrial production totalled EUR 1.69 bln at current prices and, compared to November, seasonally and calendar adjusted, grew by 1.1 % at constant prices (unadjusted – decreased by 0.2%).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, the production of the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations increased 3.3 times (unadjusted – 5.1 times), motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers – by 27.5% (unadjusted – by 1.9%), base metals – by 14.3% (unadjusted – decreased by 7.8%), steam and air conditioning supply – by 7.3% (the season and the number of working days had no effect on the indicator), manufacture of wearing apparel – by 4.5% (unadjusted – by 14.6%).

In January–December 2016, industrial production totalled EUR 18.6 bln at current prices and, compared to the same period of 2015, calendar adjusted, grew by 2.3% at constant prices; calendar unadjusted, it increased by the same percentage.

Changes in sales and services of mining and quarrying and manufacturing (B and C) enterprises


In January–December 2016, against the same period of 2015, the proportions of mining and quarrying and manufacturing sales and services on the non-Lithuanian market grew by 0.3 percentage points (ppt) and stood at 64.6%, on the Lithuanian market – decreased by 0.3 ppt and stood at 35.4%. The value of sales and services to non-euro area countries accounted for more than half (54.5%) of the total value of sales and services on the non-Lithuanian market.


In January–December 2016, against the same period of 2015, the value of sales and services of industrial enterprises on the non-Lithuanian market decreased by 0.9% at current prices. The decrease was determined by a decrease in the sales of the production of the manufacture of refined petroleum products (12.7%), chemicals and chemical products (7.9%), and other transport equipment (10.9%). In January–December 2016, against the same period of 2015, refined petroleum products excluded, the value of sales and services on the non-Lithuanian market increased by 2.8% at current prices. Over the said period, the sales of the production of the manufacture of wood and wood products, except furniture, grew by 10.1, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers – by 30.4, textiles – by 17.7%.

The value of sales and services to euro area countries decreased by 2.1% at current prices, to non-euro area countries – remained unchanged.


In January–December 2016, against the same period of 2015, the value of sales and services of mining and quarrying and manufacturing enterprises on the Lithuanian market decreased by 2% at current prices, refined petroleum products excluded – by 1.2%.

Concepts

Sales and services of industrial enterprises refers to income (VAT and excise excluded) received during a reference period through selling goods and/or providing services by enterprises engaged in mining and quarrying and manufacturing (sections B and C of EVRK1 Rev. 2).


Industrial production refers to the value (VAT and excise excluded) of the sales of goods manufactured or manufacturing work carried out by industrial enterprises (sections B–E of EVRK Rev. 2). For the calculation of changes in industrial production, a producer price index is used.
