Newborn boys numbered 7,290 and girls, 6,633. There were 211 sets of twins and four sets of triplets.
Births numbered 1,776 in Harju County, 57 in Hiiu County, 1,154 in East-Viru County, 243 in Jogeva County, 275 in Jarva County, 199 in Laane County, 524 in West-Viru County, 207 in Polva County, 793 in Parnu County, 311 in Rapla County, 271 in Saare County, 5,259 in the city of Tallinn, 1,893 in Tartu County, 234 in Valga County, 405 in Viljandi County, and 322 in Voru County.
During the year 6,076 marriages were concluded and 2,511 marriages divorced.
Vital statistics offices registered 15,294 deaths in 2016.
In 2015, 13,973 births and 15,389 deaths, as well as 6,429 marriages and 2,691 divorces were registered in Estonia.
