In November industrial production in Latvia increased by 11 %

The data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to November 2015, in November 2016 industrial production output increased by 11%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Production output rise in manufacturing accounted for 9.1%, in mining and quarrying for 9.8% and in electricity and gas supply for 18.6%.

Compared to November of the year before, in November 2016 production increase was influenced by notable rise in most of the manufacturing sectors, including manufacturing of high- and medium-high-tech industries, such as manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (of 46.6%), manufacture of electrical equipment (of 31.3%), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (of 14.6%), manufacture of machinery and equipment  (of 12.2%), as well as manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations. Rise in the demand for products in export markets, especially in non-euro area, was one of the main factors contributing to the production output increase.


Production output growth in energy sector was affected by the increase in electricity production in hydro power plants and combined heat and power plants.


Compared to October, in November industrial production output went up by 2.8%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, of which in manufacturing by 1.9 %, in electricity and gas supply by 7.4%, while in mining and quarrying there was a drop of 3.9%.

Manufacturing turnover


Compared to November 2015, in November 2016 manufacturing turnover grew by 4.6%, according to calendar adjusted data at current prices. In the domestic market turnover increased by 4.3% and in export by 4.9% (of which in euro area by 0.7 % and in non-euro area by 8%).


Compared to October, in November 2016 manufacturing turnover rose by 1.9%, according to seasonally adjusted data. In the domestic market turnover increased by 0.6% and in export by 3.4% (in euro area by 3.1% and in non-euro area by 2.4%).
