Latvia records sixth highest inflation among EU member states in November

In November this year, Latvia recorded the sixth highest inflation rate among EU member states, according to the latest data released by Eurostat on Friday.

Like in Great Britain, Latvian consumer prices rose 1.2% year-on-year in November. The highest inflation was recorded in Belgium (+1.7%), the Czech Republic (+1.6%), Austria (+1.5%), Estonia (+1.4%) and Sweden (+1.3%). In Lithuania and Hungary, consumer prices rose 1.1% in November.


In November, annual inflation was registered in 22 member states, while six EU member states - Bulgaria, Cyprus (-0.8%), Ireland Greece, Romania and Slovakia (-0.2%) - reported deflation.

The EU's annual inflation rate edged up to 0.6 % in November from 0.5% in October. In November 2015, consumer prices in across the bloc moved up 0.1%.


In the eurozone, consumer prices rose 0.6% year-on-year in November 2016 as compared to 0.5% in October and 0.1% in November 2015.


Compared to the previous month, consumer prices in the EU remained stable and declined 0.1% in the eurozone.


Latvian consumer prices rose 0.1% month-on-month in November, Lithuania reported a 0.3% monthly inflation, and consumer prices in Estonia remained flat in November.
