44% of Latvians pay for their trips with money saved up specially for this purpose
Over the past year, 44% of Latvian travelers have been
paying for their trips with money saved specially for this purpose, a survey by
Latvia Tours company shows.
Slightly fewer trips, or 35%, were paid with travelers’
disposable money, 20% of Latvian travelers’ trips were paid for by someone
else, and one % of travelers took loans or borrowed money from someone else for
their trips.
The survey reveals that travelers between 25 and 44 years of
age tend to pay their travel expenses with their disposable money, and younger
travelers, aged 18 to 24, often travel for someone else’s money.
As far as gender differences are concerned, 47% of women
travelers had saved up money for their trips and 31% paid their travel costs
with their disposable money, while 41% of men spent their disposable income on
their trips and 39% paid for their trips with savings.
The average travel costs per traveler were EUR 413 in the
past year, said Latvia Tours director Ieva Keisa, adding that men spent EUR 477
on average on their trips and women spent EUR 377.
SKDS market and public opinion research center conducted the
survey for Latvia Tours, polling
1,002 respondents aged 18 to 74 across Latvia.
