Eurostat:Latvia records eighth highest inflation in EU in September

In September this year, Latvia recorded the eighth highest inflation rate among EU member states, according to the latest data released on Monday by Eurostat.

Like in the Czech Republic, Germany, France and Finland, Latvian consumer prices rose 0.5% y-on-y in September.


Altogether 16 EU member states recorded annual inflation in September, Spanish consumer prices remained flat and ten member states of the bloc recorded annual deflation.


The steepest annual inflation in September was recorded in Belgium (+1.8%), followed by Estonia (+1.7%) and Austria (+1.1%).


The biggest annual deflation, meanwhile, was recorded in Bulgaria (-1.1%), Croatia (-0.7%) and Slovakia (-0.5%).


Lithuanian consumer prices went up 0.6% against September 2015.


Both across the EU and the eurozone the annual inflation rate was 0.4%.


As compared to the previous month, consumer prices rose 0.4% in the EU and 0.2% in the eurozone in September.


Latvia saw the fifth highest monthly inflation in the EU as its consumer prices moved up 0.4% from August.


Lithuania’s monthly inflation was 0.8 % and Estonian consumer prices remained unchanged in September.
