In May, industrial production in Latvia output grew by 5.1 %

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to May 2015, in May 2016 industrial production output increased by 5.1% (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices), of which in manufacturing – by 5.3%, in electricity and gas supply – by 4.8 %, whereas in mining and quarrying there was a drop of 2.9%.

Increase in the manufacturing sector was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 24.8%, manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – of 19.6%, repair and installation of machinery and equipment – of 17.1%, and manufacture of wood and of products of wood – of 6.0%. Whereas drop in industrial production output was observed in manufacture of electrical equipment – of 12.2 %, manufacture of wearing apparel – of 9.2%, and manufacture of food products – of 1.5%.


Compared to April, in May 2016 industrial production volume rose by 2.4% (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices), of which in manufacturing – by 2.9% and in electricity and gas supply – by 2.8%, whereas in mining and quarrying there was a decline of 1.8%.

Manufacturing turnover

Compared to May 2015, in May 2016 manufacturing turnover increased by 1.2% (according to calendar adjusted data at current prices), of which by 1.0% in domestic market and by 1.4% in export (of which a rise of 9.9% in euro area and drop of 4.7% in non-euro area).


Compared to April, in May 2016 manufacturing turnover grew by 1.0% (according to seasonally adjusted data), of which by 0.7% in domestic market and by 1.4% in export (of which rise of 2.3% in non-euro area zone and decline of 0.1% in euro area).
