Because of better salaries and a friendlier tax system, 40% of Latvian residents would be prepared to move to Estonia, according to a survey carried out by the Latvian job advertisement portal cvmarket.lv, cites LETA.

Meanwhile, 1% of those surveyed stated that they would be prepared to move to Estonia to study and take advantage of the country's high standard of education.

On the other hand, 48% stated that they would not move to Estonia as this would mean leaving family and friends, while only 8% said that they already have a well paying job or are studying in Latvia and there is no reason for them to move to Estonia.

A similar survey was carried out in Estonia, with 20% of residents saying that they would be prepared to move to Latvia for work and another 18% saying that they would if they could find a job in their sphere. Meanwhile, 48% of Estonian surveyed said that they would not be prepared to move to Latvia, while another 18% said that they would not like to work here due to lower salary levels.

This survey was conducted on-line on the portal's web-site in June, with 404 respondents participating on the Latvia side, and 466 respondents on the Estonian side.
