Study: Estonia should support online sales

BC, Tallinn, 28.06.2016.Print version
Results of a study commissioned by the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and carried out by Praxis show that the sale of goods and services over the internet is not very developed in Estonia and it should be nationally promoted, informs LETA/BNS.

The study states that online export is a new field for Estonian entrepreneurs and knowledge of e-export is still quite scarce. Entrepreneurs' scarce knowledge of different transport solutions, tax systems, regulatory requirements and e-marketing could be behind the obstacles, Praxis said.

Authors of the study want the state to offer support for solving the problems connected to Estonia as a country of origin and create a national online marketing export assistance to change the situation.

In addition, Praxis suggests the state to develop trainings offered to entrepreneurs selling their products and services online, and set up a support team, which has four to six members.

Praxis also suggests creating a voucher system, which means giving entrepreneurs a voucher worth 4,000 to 5,000 euros to set up an international online store. The study's authors also suggest that the state starts to collect data on online export.
