Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite ranks 72nd among the world's 100 most powerful females published by the US magazine Forbes. No other Baltic women is included in the list, reports LETA/BNS.

"She's been called the Iron Lady, and for good reason: Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has been a fearless critic of her much larger and more powerful neighbor to the east, comparing (Russian) President Vladimir Putin to Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler," Forbes said in its presentation of the Lithuanian leader.

The list is topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, followed by US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton of the Democrats.

3rd is US Federal Reserve System chief Janet Yellen, ahead of businesswoman and philanthropist Melinda Gates, the wife of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and the CEO of US automotive giant General Motors, Mary Barra.

Grybauskaite is the 1st female president of independent Lithuania and the only leader re-elected for the 2nd consecutive term.

First elected to the President's Office in 2009, Grybauskaite has served as a member of the European Commission and finance minister in the past.
