Lithuania's jobless rate edges down to 7.6% in early June

Lithuania's unemployment rate stood at 7.6% in early June 2016, down by 0.6 percentage points compared with a month ago and down by 0.9 points year-on-year, figures from the country's Labor Exchange showed on June 3rd, cites LETA/BNS.

There were 136,700 registered unemployed persons in the country at the start of June, down by 13,600 persons, or 9.1%, from early May and down by 17,900 persons, or 11.6%, from a year ago.

 

"There were 136,700 unemployed persons on the Lithuanian Labor Exchange data register on Jun. 1, a decrease of 18,000 compared with the same period last year. The last time a similar number was recorded was in late 2008," the Labor Exchange said in a press release.

 

Employers last month registered almost 35,500 job vacancies, up by 6.1% month-on-month and up by 13% year-on-year.
