The National Broadcasting: the sales of books have fallen by 10-20%, in comparison to the first three months of the last year, writes LETA.

The decline in sales is particularly noticeable in the field of fiction.

Priit Maide, the head of the Varrak publishing house, stated that the current situation is making companies to choose more carefully, which books to publish.

However, there are no exact statistics on the average decline in sales this year; depending on publishing houses, the fall might even reach 40%.

Maide explained that conservative Estonians who do not like to waste money mostly use the services of libraries to read fiction.
