Bankruptcies’ number might grow by 80% in Estonia in 2009

Print versionPostimees Online: the experts expect the number of bankruptcies to grow by 80% during this year in Estonia, while in the year 2008 the number of enterprises that went bankrupt grew by 110%, writes LETA.

In 2008, the growth in the number of bankruptcies was abrupt due to the fact that in 2007, the number of bankruptcies was relatively low – 202. In 2008, 423 enterprises went bankrupt and the number is comparable to the level of the year 2005.
According to experts of Krediidiinfo, this year approximately 800 companies might be declared bankrupt, whereas most of them are expected to be found insolvent in the first half of the year.
