Among force and public security structures, Latvian residents have most confidence in the National Armed Forces (NBS) and lowest confidence in the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), Latvian daily Neatkariga cited a survey conducted by SKDS pollster, writes LETA.

NBS had a positive rating, scoring 37.1 points, the State Police scored 18.2 points, the prosecutor's office scored 9 points, courts scored 5 points, while the rating of KNAB was negative - minus 3.6 points. As many as 61.4% of the polled people voiced confidence in NBS, and 24.3% were negative about the army. At the same time, 40.2% of respondents voiced confidence in KNAB, and negative attitude was voiced by 42.8% of respondents.

The daily reported that the rating of the army has been dropping for a third consecutive year, while the rating of the State Police has been stable at around 18 points. The rating of KNAB has seen a drop in the past years as it had been positive in 2012.

Confidence in the Latvian armed forces was voiced by 75% of Latvian-speaking population and 42% of Russian-speaking population, while a negative attitude to the army was voiced by 14% of Latvians and 40% of Russian-speaking people.

SKDS head Arnis Kaktins said that he is concerned about the low rating of courts. "If half of residents do not trust the judicial power, how can we speak about law-governed state?" he said.
