Registered unemployment level in Latvia rises to 8.4% in November

The registered unemployment level in Latvia has increased by 0.1% and reached 8.4% of the economically active population of Latvia at the end of November 2015, reports LETA, according to the State Employment Agency.

In October and September, the registered unemployment level in the country was at 8.3%, in August – 8.5%, but the previous three months – 8.6%.

 

At the beginning of November, 78,052 persons were registered as unemployed with the Employment Agency, whereas at the end of November there were 79,153 unemployed.

 

Riga Region had the lowest unemployment level of 5.2%, while Latgale province the highest – 18.3%. Unemployment level in Kurzeme is 10.5%, 9.2% in Vidzeme and 8.4% in Zemgale.

 

Among the cities, Riga had the lowest unemployment of 4.9%, Jurmala – 5.6%, Valmiera – 5.9%, Jelgava – 7%, Ventspils – 7.7%, Jekabpils – 9.9%, Daugavpils – 10.8%, Liepaja – 11.5%, Rezekne – 16%.
