27.7% children were at risk of poverty or social exclusion in EU in 2015

35.3% of children in Latvia are under risk of poverty and social exclusion, reports LETA, according to a report from the EU statistical bureau Eurostat.
Since 2013, the number of children at risk of poverty and social exclusion has reduced by three percentage points, but since 2011 – by almost ten percentage points.
Only Romania (51% of children), Bulgaria (45.2%), Hungary (41.4%), Greece (36.7%) and Spain (35.8%) had a higher poverty risk.
In Lithuania, 28.9% of children are under threat of poverty and social exclusion.
The lowest poverty risks for children are in Sweden – 16.7%, Denmark – 14.5%, and Finland – 15.6%.
According to Eurostat, 27.7% of children aged less than 18 were at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the European Union in 2015.
