Estonian Audit: government favors productivity growth instead of creating jobs

BC, Tallinn, 23.11.2015.Print version
The Estonian National Audit Office found in its audit that the government has so far chosen an economic policy the aim of which is to increase the productivity of companies without necessarily creating new jobs, informs LETA.

According to the audit, the government has chosen such an economic policy as a result of which labor market demand has evolved mostly by itself because the government's policy seems to rather favor productivity growth without necessarily creating new jobs.

This does not necessarily mean that the growth of jobs is not paid attention to because creating jobs and raising the employment rate are an important criterion for getting European Union support, and it is also one of the goals of Europe's competitive ability for 2020.

At the same time, the National Audit Office finds that such a conduct of the government is not a problem at the moment because according to entrepreneurs there are not enough people to fill the so-called smart jobs.
