Estonia's unemployment rate starts increasing again in September

The number of registered jobless started increasing again in September in Estonia after falling since spring and the number of jobless reached 25,842 people at the end of the month, which formed 4.1% of the working-age population, the Unemployment Insurance Fund reported LETA.

In August, the jobless rate was 4% of the working-age population. The number of jobless grew by 433.

 

Joblessness was highest in October this year in Ida-Virumaa (8.5%) and Valgamaa (7.9%) and lowest in Tartumaa (3.2) and Harjumaa (2.9%).

 

Unemployment insurance compensation, which amounted to an average of 400 euros a month, was paid in September to 31% of the jobless and jobless benefits amounting to around 124 euros a month were paid to 24% of the jobless.
