The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.135 bln in August
Over the month (August 2015, against July), exports decreased by 8.8, imports – by 14%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (21.3%), edible fruit and nuts (60.1%), fertilisers (23.4%). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of crude oil (30.5%), edible fruit and nuts (39.7%), ground vehicles (15.1%). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 5.8, imports – by 8.6%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 6.6%, mineral products excluded – increased by 0.2%.
Over the year (August 2015, against August 2014), exports decreased by 9.9, imports – by 5.4%. The decrease in exports was determined by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (20.4%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (36.2%). The decrease in imports was influenced by a decrease in imports of crude oil (23.3%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (21.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 7.7, imports – by 0.1%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 4.6%, mineral products excluded – increased by 2.8%.

In January–August 2015, against January–August 2014, exports decreased by 5%, while imports increased by 0.6%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (7.3%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (16.1%), ground vehicles (22.2%). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances (10.4%), fertilisers (56.2%). Mineral products excluded, exports of goods decreased by 4.5%, while imports increased by 2.6%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 2.8%, mineral products excluded – increased by 0.5%. Exports to Russia decreased by 40.3%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 55.4%, which was mainly conditioned by a slump in exports of milk and dairy products (94.3%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (88.1%); meat and edible meat offal were not exported. Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 60.6%, of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – by 78.3% (in January–August 2014, exports of such products amounted to EUR 187.3 million, while in the same period of 2015 – EUR 40.7 million).
In January–August 2015, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (13.6%), Latvia (10.3%), Poland (9.7%) and Germany (8.1%), in imports – Russia (17.3%), Germany (11.6%), Poland (10.1%) and Latvia (7.3%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (11.1%), Latvia (8.3%), the United States (7.3%), the United Kingdom (7.2%) and Poland (7%).
In January–August 2015, the largest share in Lithuania's exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.4 and 22.8% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (14.4 and 17.4% respectively), and products of the chemical or allied industries (11 and 12% respectively). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (23.6%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (11.2%), products of the chemical or allied industries (9.6%), prepared foodstuffs, beverages, spirits, vinegar, tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (7.8%).
