The annual retail trade turnover in EU increased by 2.7% in July

In July 2015, compared with July 2014, the volume of retail trade increased by 4.3% in Latvia, which is the ninth best growth among the European Union member states for which data are available, according to latest information provided by Eurostat, cites LETA.

The highest increases in total retail trade was observed in Romania – 9.6%, followed by Estonia –7.8%, Hungary – 7%, and Ireland – 6.4%.

 

In Lithuania, year-on-year retail trade turnover rose by 5.3%.

 

Meanwhile, a reduction in retail trade turnover was only registered in Luxembourg – by 10.5% and Finland – by 0.3%.

 

The annual retail trade turnover increased by 2.7% in the euro area, and by 3.3% in the European Union.

 

Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, retail trade turnover in the EU increased by 0.3%, but in the eurozone by 0.4%.

 

The highest monthly increases in total retail trade were registered in Estonia – 2.5%, Germany – by 1.4%, as well as Malta, Portugal and Romania – by 1.1% each.

 

The largest decreases were registered in Luxembourg – 1.2%, Poland – 1.1%, as well as Austria – 0.9%.

 

In Latvia, month-on-month retail trade turnover in July increased by 0.3%, but in Lithuania it remained unchanged.
