In H1, volume of freights transported in Latvia decreased by 1.8%

In the 1st half of 2015, 30 mln tons of the freight was carried by train, which is a decrease of 2.5% compared to first six months of the previous year.

National freights by rail comprised 0.5 mln tons – 22.8% more than in the corresponding period of 2014. In international traffic the volume of freight carried by rail reduced by 2.8%.

In the 1st half of 2015 freight transport by road has remained at the level of the previous year – 28.2 mln tons of freights were transported, and it is 0.1 % less if compared to the 1st half of 2014.

24.8% of the total volume of freights carried by road were comprised by metal ores and other mining and quarrying products and peat, 20.1% – products of agriculture, hunting and forestry, fish and other fishing products, but 15.8% – by wood and products of wood (except furniture), paper and paper products.

In the 1st half of 2015 by the oil products pipeline 3 mln tons of oil products were transported, a decrease of 10.6% on the 1st half of 2014.
