In July, construction input prices in Lithuania increased by 2.3% y-o-y

Viktorija Malinovskaja, Statistics Lithuania, 31.08.2015.Print version
Statistics Lithuania informs that in July 2015, compared to June, construction input prices decreased by 0.4%. The change was mainly influenced by a 0.8% decrease in wages and salaries. Over the year (July 2015, against July 2014), construction input prices increased by 2.3%.

In July 2015, against June, a decrease in wages and salaries per hour worked was determined by smaller lump sums, bonuses and premiums.

Over the month, prices for construction materials and articles dropped by 0.3%. The largest decrease in prices was observed for pipes (1.2%), insulation materials, concrete and ferroconcrete products (0.2% each), while increase – wood products (0.5%), electrical engineering materials, plumbing materials, concrete and mortar (0.1% each).

Hourly labour costs of the operation of construction machines and mechanisms decreased by just 0.1%.

As for buildings and structures, the largest price drop over the month was observed for the construction of wastewater pipelines – 0.7%. Renovation of buildings went down in price by 0.3%.

Over the year (July 2015, against July 2014), construction input prices increased by 2.3%. It was conditioned by an 8.5% increase in wages and salaries, 0.3% – hourly labour costs of the operation of construction machines and mechanisms.

Over the year, prices for construction materials and articles dropped by 0.1%. The largest decrease in prices was observed for insulation materials (3.5%), finishing materials (1.2%), concrete and ferroconcrete products (0.6%), while increase – wood products (1%), general building materials (0.7%), electrical engineering materials (0.6%).

As for buildings and structures, the largest price growth over the year was observed for the construction of residential buildings – 3.2%. Renovation of buildings went up in price by 3.9%.
