Led by Bolivia and El Salvador, Latin American countries dominate the top of the list of the most emotional countries in the world for 2014, where nearly six in 10 residents in each of these countries reported experiencing positive or negative emotions the previous day, according to a research by the Gallup Institute. Post-Soviet countries, including Latvia, largely dominate the list of countries at the other end of the spectrum, reports GALLUP.COM/LETA.

Gallup measured daily emotions in 148 countries in 2014 by asking people whether they experienced five positive and five negative emotions a lot the previous day.

The five negative experiences include anger, stress, sadness, physical pain and worry.

The five positive experiences include feeling well-rested, being treated with respect, enjoyment, smiling and laughing a lot and learning or doing something interesting.

The most and least emotional countries are based on the rankings of the average "yes" responses to all questions.

Bolivia and Salvador are in the lead – positive and negative emotions in the previous day experienced 59% of the residents. They are followed by Ecuador, Philippines, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Iraq with 58%.

Bangladesh is in the last place with 38%. 44% of Latvian residents expressed feeling positive and negative emotions the previous day, Estonians – 42%, Lithuanians and Russians – 40%, and Belarusians – 39%, show the research results.
