Latvia registers EU's fifth highest inflation in June

The consumer price level in Latvia in June 2015, compared with the same month of the previous year, increased 0.7%, which was the fifth highest increase in the EU, reports LETA, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat.

Deflation was registered in eight member states, while 20 member states recorded inflation.

 

Malta registered the highest annual inflation in June – by 1.1%, followed by Austria – 1%, as well as Belgium and the Czech Republic – by 0.9% each.

 

The largest deflation level was registered in Cyprus – 2.1%, followed by Greece – 1.1%, as well as Romania and Slovenia – 0.9% each.

 

In Estonia, consumer prices in June increased by 0.3% when compared to June 2014, but in Lithuania reduced by 0.2%.

 

Annual inflation in the eurozone in June increased 0.2% when compared to June of 2014, but annual inflation in the EU was at 0.1% in June.

 

Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, consumer prices in the eurozone and the EU remained unchanged.

 

In Latvia, month-on-month deflation was registered at 0.1%.

 

Monthly inflation in Lithuania decreased by 0.2%, but in Estonia – increased by 0.1%.
