In June, annual deflation 0.1% registered in Estonia

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in June 2015 was -0.2% compared to May 2015 and -0.1% compared to June of the previous year.

Compared to June 2014, goods were 0.5% cheaper and services 0.5% more expensive. Regulated prices of goods and services have fallen by 0.8% and non-regulated prices have risen by 0.1 % compared to June of the previous year.

 

Compared to June 2014, the consumer price index was influenced the most by motor fuel, which was 8.9% cheaper this year. 4.3% cheaper electricity, heat energy and fuels also had a bigger impact on the index, as the electricity that arrived at homes was 6.4% cheaper and heat energy 4.1% cheaper than in the same month of the previous year. Alcoholic beverages also had a bigger impact on the index, as their prices increased 4.8% compared to the previous year. Compared to June 2014, of food products, the prices of dried fruit and nuts have increased the most (29%), whereas the prices of potatoes and sugar have decreased the most (30% and 20%, respectively).

 

The previous time that the monthly change of the consumer price index was below zero was in January 2015, when it was -0.4%.

 

In June compared to May, the consumer price index was influenced the most by 2.8% cheaper electricity, heat energy and fuels, as the electricity that arrived at homes was 4.1% cheaper and heat energy 2.6% cheaper. In June, package holidays were 14.2% more expensive and fabrics 7.2% cheaper than in May.
