Youth employment indicators continue to improve in Latvia, while situation among adults still indicates lower dynamics, this according to the director of the State Employment Agency, Inese Kalvane, in an interview with the LNT show "900 sekundes", cites LETA.

Looking back on the first half of the year, Kalvane said that the year began with growing unemployment rates, however, forecasts indicate that with the beginning of the spring, the unemployment rate has declined. The highest demand for workers is in sectors such manufacturing, catering, and trade.

In the first four months this year, about 23,500 people managed to find a job in Latvia. Compared with the previous year, the situation this year is similar. "We expect no significant changes in neither demand, nor offer," said Kalvane, adding that the labor market currently shows no "large movement".

While the youth unemployment rates keep falling, situation among adults remains stable, the State Employment Agency's director explained.

As reported, the registered unemployment level in Latvia in April was 8.8 percent of the total number of economic active residents, which is by 0.4 percentage points less than in March, according to the State Employment Agency's data.
