Residents of Riga have the highest cost of living among Baltic capitals

Print versionA comparison of household expenses in the capitals of the Baltic States shows that the residents of Riga have the highest cost of living, according to a study conducted by the Institute of Private Finances of Swedbank, cites LETA.

A family of four that lives in a 70 square meter flat that they own and that was built during the Soviet period, spends 44% of their income in Riga, 41.5% in Vilnius, but in Tallinn – only 25.5% of the household income.
This means that a family of four with a typical model for housing costs, grocery and public transportation expenses spends around EUR 591 in Riga, around EUR 513 in Vilnius, and around EUR 499 in Tallinn.
