Slight reduction in unemployment level registered in Latvia in March

In March 2015, the number of persons registered as unemployed reduced by 1,269 persons in Latvia, which was 1.4% less than the previous month, reports LETA, according to the State Employment Agency's data.

The number of persons registered as unemployed on the SEA's database at the beginning of March was 87,873, but by the end of the month dropped to 86,604.

 

The lowest unemployment rate was registered in Riga Region – 5.6%, and the highest in Latgale province – 19.8%.

 

Unemployment in Kurzeme was 11.3% in March, Vidzeme had 10.2% and Zemgale 9.6%.

 

The unemployment rate for Riga was 5.3% at the end of March, Jurmala had 6.3%, Jelgava 7.6%, Valmiera 7%, Ventspils 8.3%, Daugavpils 11.5%, Jekabpils 11.9%, Liepaja 12.9%, and Rezekne 18%.

 

The State Employment Agency currently offers 4,872 job openings. The most popular ones are for truck drivers, cooks, salespersons, fish processors, cashiers, tailors, ship mechanics, auxiliary workers, and manual metal arc welders. The highest demand is still for various kinds of IT specialists.
