BC, Riga, 09.04.2015.Print version
Only if macroeconomic indicators are good, the minimum wage in Latvia could be increased to EUR 375, Welfare Minister Uldis Augulis (Greens/Farmers) said in an interview with the LNT show "900 sekundes" this morning, informs LETA.

Augulis said that the Economy Ministry and Finance Ministry have submitted several proposals: one stipulates to maintain the minimum wage at its current level – EUR 360, another – to increase it to EUR 375.

"However, when discussing such an increase, we must consider various circumstances – macroeconomic forecasts, external circumstances, and the situation in Lithuania and Estonia," Augulis said.

As reported, from January 1, the monthly minimum wage was increased from EUR 320 to EUR 360.

Furthermore, the minimum hourly wage rate was increased from EUR 1.933 to EUR 2.166.
