Following his meeting with Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, head of the IMF mission in Lithuania Christoph Klingen said that modern amendments to the Labour Code would substantially promote job creation.

IMF experts also believe that Lithuania should see growth of 2.8% this year, lower than the previous forecast of 3.3%, IMF mission chief Klingen told reporters. However, IMF experts see "a very positive economic growth outlook" in Lithuania.

Although in the first quarter of 2015 the growth of Lithuania's economy slowed down, the IMF mission chief expressed hopes to see this trend disappear by the end of the year.

"I would like to emphasize that 2.8% is still a very, very good number," Klingen said.

IMF was also satisfied with the situation of Lithuania's public finances in the last few years and said that the country should stick to the current line of actions.
