BC, Vilnius, 17.03.2015.Print version
According to the recent data of Eurobarometer, 87% Lithuania's residents, which corresponds to Europe's average, believe that competition between companies encourages innovation and economic growth. Lithuania and Germany are equally likely to agree that competition encourages innovation and economic growth, informs LETA/ELTA.

85% Lithuania's residents agree that competition between companies allows for higher quality goods and services, while the European average stood at 74%.

In the view of Lithuania's residents, the competition is the smallest in the sectors of food distribution, energy, and pharmaceuticals, also, telecommunications and Internet. The highest proportion of respondents who say they have experienced a problem due to a lack of competition in the food distribution sector can be found in Finland (31%), followed by Greece and Lithuania (both 25%).

Lack of choice is seen as the main problem (or equally the main problem) in 13 member-states, although again the highest proportion can be observed in the United Kingdom (90%).
