Crime rate continues to gradually reduce since 2016 in Latvia

Since 2006, the crime rate in Latvia has continued to gradually reduce, according to the Central Statistical Bureau's data from 2005 to 2013, cites LETA.

According to statistics, 62,328 crimes were registered in Latvia in 2006, compared to 47,561 in 2013.

 

The largest number of crimes in 2013 were theft and burglary related – 22,746. The lowest number of theft and burglary related crimes was registered in 2007 – 19,639.

 

According to statistics, there has been a gradual reduction of serious crimes (murder, rape, beatings, armed robberies) since 2005.

 

However, there has also been a gradual increase in drug related crimes since 2005 as well. In 2005, there were 1,049 drug related crimes registered, but in 2013 – 1,637.
