In January, 93,000 foreign tourists used the services of accommodation establishments which is 14% fewer than in January of the previous year. The number of foreign tourists decreased mainly due to a drop in the number of tourists arriving from Russia. In January, 26,000 tourists from Russia stayed in accommodation establishments, which is 45% fewer than in January of the previous year. Even the increasing number of tourists from many European countries was not able to compensate for this decrease. Compared to January 2014, the number of tourists from Finland and Latvia increased by 8% and 17%, respectively. Also, more tourists arrived from Sweden, Lithuania, Germany and the United Kingdom. The number of tourists arriving from Asian countries increased by a fifth.

In January, 74,000 domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 18% more than in January of the previous year. 62% of the domestic tourists were on a holiday trip and 24% on a business trip. 31% of the domestic tourists using the services of accommodation establishments stayed in Harju county, 15% in Pärnu county and 10% in Tartu county. More domestic tourists than in January of the previous year stayed in the accommodation establishments of Harju and Pärnu counties. The number of accommodated domestic tourists in Tarty county stayed at the previous year's level.

In January, 900 accommodation establishments offered services for tourists. 18,000 rooms and 41,000 beds were available for tourists. Nearly a third of the rooms and a quarter of the beds were occupied. The average cost of a guest night was 34 euros, which was in the same price range as in January 2014. The average cost of a guest night was higher than the Estonian average in Harju county, where the average cost of a guest night was 40 euros. The average cost of a guest night was 25 euros in Pärnu county and 27 euros in Tartu county.
