EBRD recommends Estonia to continue developing knowledge-based economy

BC, Tallinn, 03.03.2015.Print version
Estonia ought to continue developing high-tech and knowledge-based economic sectors, stated the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in its overview of the bank’s client countries’ economies, reports LETA, referring to the Ministry of Finance.

“We agree with the assessment of EBRD that in addition to creating a good environment for business operations, we need to improve the quality of labour force and developing their skills in order to improve competitiveness and boost productivity,” said Minister of Finance Maris Lauri.

“This is also the focus on the Business Growth Strategy for the years 2014-2020 that has been approved by the Government,” she added.

EBRD estimates in its document that the key issue of the official labour market policy should be maintaining the competitiveness of the Estonian labour market on the international scale.
