BC, Riga, 27.02.2015.Print version
Latvia could join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in the spring of 2016, the Foreign Ministry's State Secretary Andrejs Pildegovics said during a conference organized by the Financial and Capital Market Commission, writes LETA.

He said that negotiations on Latvia's accession to OECD are still in progress, and could last until the end of this year. Latvia could become a lawful member of OECD in the spring of 2016.

"By joining OECD we will be able to better assess our weak spots, as well as gain access to a more complete coordination system, which will allow Saeima to come up with the best solutions on how to modernize the country," Pildegovics said.

As reported, OECD has prepared its first Economic Survey on Latvia, which assesses the country's rapid recovery from the global economic crisis, as well as further steps that can be taken to reduce inequality, limit volatility and ensure convergence with the more advanced economies.
