In December, volume of retail trade rose just by 0.3% in EU

In December 2014, compared with November 2014, the volume of retail trade increased by 2.7% in Latvia, which is the 14th best growth among the European Union member states for which data are available, according to latest information provided by Eurostat. The seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade rose by 0.3% in both the euro area and the European Union, writes LETA.

The highest increases in total retail trade were observed in Luxembourg – 9.2%, Spain – 6.6%, Bulgaria – 6.4%, and Estonia – 6.3%. In Lithuania, retail volume rose by 4.8%.

 

Meanwhile, decreases were observed in Finland – 2.6%, Slovenia – 2.5%, and Malta – 1.4%.

 

The retail sales index increased by 2.8% in the euro area, and by 3.2% in the European Union.

 

The highest increases in total retail trade were registered in Ireland – 1.8%, Austria – 1.6%, Spain and Slovakia – 1.1%.

 

The largest decreases were registered in Portugal – 3.8%, Estonia – 1.7%, Denmark and Slovenia – 1.5%, and also in Latvia – 1.3%.

 

In Lithuania, the total retail trade in December 2014, compared to November 2014, increased by 0.1%.
